CIS363B Introduction

Good evening class, my name as you can tell by the blog name is in fact Joshua. I am coming back to DeVry after a two year break. I was close to finishing and wanted to wrap things up but was overwhelmed at work. I am a network engineer for a major hospital network on the west coast. Consequently the 70+ hour workweeks combined with a "third" and buying a new home took its toll. I took a much needed sabbatical from school and I hope I can brave this thing out for a few more months. I have served in the United States Navy for 11 years including the last four and the reserves. I currently get to do my active-duty training in Hawaii, so I guess you win some in life. At home I have a wife of 11 years and three children ages seven, five and three. I often feel like I'm not going to survive them as they are quite literally raised on a farm and act like it daily. We started the homesteading thing almost 2 years ago and have about 50 animals now, give or take a preditor. I Enjoy audiobooks and podcasts and read about 2 to 3 books a month. I am looking forward to finishing up my last semester and getting started with my masters degree.

  1. It is awesome that you have gotten to experience so much in the military and was able to transition well into civilian life working now in the tech industry. One day I would like to own a large fertile land and be able to farm and sustain life for me and my family. For me I love video games, physical work outs, traveling, and watching tv/movies. I just got married not to long ago and looking to earn my first degree here at Devry to better support my family. Devry does have a lot of veterans who take classes here. I think that is pretty great because we all understand what it is like to serve and to also be in different shoes of where that takes us. I hope that this class will teach us a lot. Thank you for this blog.
